wow, it's been a really long time since my last update.  sorry 'bout that!

i am currently sitting in one of the computer labs on campus, waiting for paris to call me so that we can go to lunch.  in the mean time, i'm going to give you a small taste of what my life has been like this semester:

mondays: class 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, then teaching at the high school 4:30-6:00
tuesdays: class 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (which includes two labs... i do NOT recommend ever taking two labs in one day), then church handbell rehearsal 6:00-8:00 pm.
wednesdays: class 9-4, this is my afternoon to try and get ALL my homework done... it doesn't usually happen.
thursdays: class 11:00-12:30, teaching 2:45-6:00, then a lab 6:30-9:20 pm.  yes, that makes THREE labs in one semester.  i don't recommend it...
fridays: class 9:00-4:00.

for you types that work during the day and think that schedule doesn't sound so bad, please consider that once i'm done with class and teaching and whatever else i do, i also have Percussion Studio rehearsals and homework to do during the evenings.  i think i have been in bed before 2:00 am TWICE this semester.  yay school.

in other news, i got a puppy!  she is the cutest thing ever.  she's a mutt and when i got her, they told me that she was probably a beagle/rat terrier mix... which would make her about the size of a jack russell terrier (a medium sized dog... about 20 pounds full grown).  well... she's ALREADY as tall as a JRT (and she's only 12 weeks old), she looks just like a lab, and the vet told me that she'd be a big dog.  so i'm thinking she's a beagle/lab mix.  but whatever she is, it doesn't really matter because she's so adorable.  her name is millie, but my roommate and her boyfriend call her Turbo because she gets these crazy spurts of super-hyper energy.  anywho, she is a lot of fun and i'm really excited about having a dog now.

okay, paris just called and i'm headed off to sbisa for some amazing chocolate chip cookies.  yay sbisa!  i miss you all terribly and i read all of your xanga updates with interest, because i really do want to keep up with you guys!  enjoy the rest of april, and maybe sometime around may 12 or so i'll be able to catch up with everyone.

luuuuuuv,
alicia

ho ho ho!  meeeeeeeerry Christmas!  and all that jazz...

i love this time of year.  it's so much fun.  i know i've said it before, but if i could be a college student on Christmas break forever, i would.  it's the best.  you have no studying to worry about, no classes to attend, nothing to do but sleep and go shopping, and the best food ever.  PLUS, all the other crazy college students leave town and the roads are SO much emptier.  yep, this is the life.

we had an ice storm last night.  it was awesome.  everything is so pretty this morning.  it reminds me of colorado;  i don't think i've ever seen the ice this thick on the grass.  anywho, it is very unusual to have ice so early in the season here in my part of texas, but i thoroughly enjoyed it.

we have a dog for a little while.  her name is emma, she's a black lab, and she's staying with us indefinitely.  a friend of ours started grad school in london, so his dog has to be quarantined before she can be shipped overseas.  however, he's having trouble finding an apartment that will allow dogs, so emma might be staying with us for a little longer than we thought.  i love her so much!  she has the sweetest demeanor, and is so much fun to play with.

okay, i have two finals tomorrow and one on tuesday.  then the semester's over.  whew!

and so, the saga of the interminable week continues...

sunday was the Percussion Studio runthrough.  too many egos.  ...........and that's all i have to say about that.
monday i got to listen to an hour long lecture about how upset my boss is that the people i'm responsible for can't pick up their toys.  yay.  then i had to go to the store and was three minutes late to my night class when i (of course) chose the check-out line that had to call for a price check for FIVE MINUTES.  when i got to class, my professor had already started a quiz.  thankfully, she let me take the last part of it, so i at least have a grade.
which brings us to today (tuesday).  morning class was cancelled, so i got to do some laundry and finish a project.  i then sent that project via e-mail to be printed in the computer lab on campus.  i went out to drive to campus an hour before my class started to get the print-outs and naturally, the battery on my car has died.  i called my parents to come save me, and they did.  but by the time i got to campus, i only had five minutes to run in, grab my project, and put it all together.  and get changed to perform my tumbling routine.  AND to top it all off, i now have a fever blister from all the stress.

the rest of the week promises lots of laughs, too.
wednesday: two tests
thursday: two tests (we were given the option to not take one of them.... and i think i'm going to take him up on that offer)
friday: two tests, mega rehearsal, and truck loading
saturday: all-day runthrough, and Percussion Studio show.  let me know if you want tickets.
sunday: three-hour long playing gig and wedding shower (my bright spot of the week.  yay for kristen!).

two of those six (yes, six) tests are finals.  which means that NEXT week, i only have to take three finals.  can you tell how excited i am?

i want a nap and a bowl of ice cream.

this is unbelievable.  in my theories class, someone stole a copy of the test and passed it out to a bunch of people.  now my professor is all kinds of angry about it, and has decided to not only NOT curve our final grades, but to make all the tests for the rest of the semester as hard as he possibly can.  so thank you to the geniuses who decided that it was okay to ruin my grade.  i appreciate it a lot.
